WDM
WDM technology addresses the need for high-capacity transport of data and, in general, telecommunications signals for large enterprise networks. It is used in backbone networks for data transmission over fiber optic cables. It allows network capacity to be expanded without the need for additional optical fibers. Capacity can be increased by simply expanding the multiplex at each end.
